Review of the National Standard Operating Procedures for Clinical Trials in Australia

Biography

I am a pharmacist by qualification however have had a wonderful career in the pharma industry as a global clinical development project manager mostly with major pharma companies in HQ overseas. I have worked with teams and taken 8 products to market the highlight being the first protease inhibitor to treat HIV. Quite tense but extremely rewarding. Seeing a gap in the career trajectory for science related graduates to enter the pharma industry and energetic word of clinical trials I developed a Master’s degree for a reputable university enabling graduates to have a smooth entry into this environment. I have moved through small pharma, large pharma, small and large CROs, state Department of Health and am now in the federal government Department of Health and Aged Care in the Clinical Trials Policy Section helping shape strategic new reform to better the way we do clinical trials and make Australia a desirable destination for clinical research. My fulfilling career has taken me overseas consulting to biotech as well as large pharma and as a consequence I speak many languages, love eating many cuisines and wouldn’t change a thing.
