C14a: Common challenges and practical solutions for clinical trial sites and sponsors – What has changed in the past year?
Abstract
Following on from the success of the interactive workshop held at the ARCS 2024 annual conference, we will share the key identified challenges faced by private and public clinical trial sites and sponsors.
Based on the feedback received from the consultation, we have identified the key topics of concern and the areas for further improvement, collaboration, and solutions.
In this presentation we will discuss the progress and the developments that have occurred in the past year in the following selected areas:
• Clinical trials staff training, onboarding, and education
• Recruitment and Principal Investigator involvement
• Effective and transparent communication with sponsors and collaborators

Biography
Dr Yordanka Krastev is the Research Operations Manager at the Ramsay Hospital Research Foundation where she is leading key research strategic initiatives across Ramsay Health Care. She oversees the research grant programs within the Foundation, the stakeholder engagement and drives opportunities for building broader research collaborations. She is a medical doctor, has a degree in health management and a PhD in medical ethics. Her 17 years’ expertise in the Australian higher education sector and the healthcare industry, extents from conducting research and teaching to establishing and implementing research ethics and clinical research governance frameworks and optimisation of research management practices. She has demonstrated strong leadership and management skills and aims to continue to develop and improve organisational strategies, policies, processes, and knowledge translation.
Yordanka has presented nationally and internationally on research ethics and governance, research integrity and clinical research.
Yordanka strongly believes in the importance of training, education and robust research management practices and the value they add in the conduct of research in different sectors.
