Abstract
Consistent with the principles of enhancing diversity and inclusiveness, collaborating with consumers is being encouraged in the development, regulation, and reimbursement of therapeutics.
But how well are we collaborating and what competencies are required to do so?
The aims of this 60-minute information session are:
1. To provide attendees with current, credible evidence and insights on consumer engagement
2. To identify the types of behaviours, skills, and knowledge that can help initiate and sustain mutually respectful partnerships with consumers.
Two internationally recognised speakers, with extensive experience in working with consumers, industry, academia, and government will share recent evidence and insights on consumer collaborations. Real-world data will be used to evaluate how diverse and inclusive the patient voice has been in understanding the patient experience and to explore where the most practical and important opportunities may be for consumer engagement.
The speakers will highlight key competencies (knowledge, skills, behaviours) that both consumers and stakeholder partners should strive for to facilitate ethical and effective collaborations.
The speakers will share examples of free, online, co-created practical tools and resources to support the audience build confidence and competency for consumer engagement and to help them apply lessons from the session in their work setting.
