Chair: What patients and their families need from clinical trials

Abstract

There are plenty of issues designing, operationalising, and reporting clinical trials from the sponsor and site perspective. How well do we understand the issues from the participant and their support networks perspective?

There is alot for consumers to negotiate, from finding and accessing a clinical trial, to the burden of visits and data collection and ending a trial, to getting and understanding clinical trial pipelines and results.

So what do consumers need trial sponsors and sites to know, to think about, to improve? How can all the stakeholders best work together for a common goal, to improve the trajectory of a condition? How can consumers, through co-design and partnership, improve the relevance and operational success of clinical trials - a win-win for sponsors, sites and patients?

The lived experience has a solution focus... what works. This panel looks forward to a frank and fearless discussion, based on their own lived experiences.
